R56 brakes = R53 JCW brakes?

Are the r56 brakes the same as the r53 jcw brakes without the painting and labels?

The JCW brakes are the same as what is currently on the R56 MCS hardtop (sans the red and the JCW logo).

That is pretty sweet. Well done +1.

They're a pretty good improvement over the stockers

I plan on cleaning the calipers and painting them a nice red color. Then getting some ceramic pads, some ss brake lines & some super blue fluid and I should be good to go. I sure do love Ebay. I now have almost the complete JCW package. lol

good deal. however, pad selection is currently very limited. ask anyone who tracks their JCW.

I'm not 100% sure but i would say no. I think you would need these to make it work.

IMHO, there are many brake upgrades for the R53 that are better than the R56 "upgrade". better choice of sizes for wheel fitment and much better pad selection at this point. if you are feeling the oem love, then go for it.

The brake discs in the 1st Gen JCW Brake Kit and on the R56 MCS are both 294x22.

I guess that answer the question. Good Job!

Yeah there are better options out there for brake upgrades, but not for 50 bucks

i just got a set also. talking to dan from grass roots, they are the same as R53 JCW. the pads are the same. the only difference is the holes on the rotor for the lugs are bigger. i think i'm planning on getting some bushings made to fit the smaller lugs.<---not needed(edited post)

stu(pid), i have not done it yet, because i'm la(zy). but i have made a "discovery". i will not be needing to put bushings in the larger lug holes. when doing a brake job on a honda oddysey i noticed that after removing the 2 tiny screws that hold the rotor to the hub, i could (after whacking it with a hammer to free it from the hub) actually move the rotor about 1mm radially in either direction. this means that the lugs (or studs in this case) do not actually hold the rotor in place, it is simply the friction of the rotor/hub mating surface. the wheel squeezes the rotor hard enough to prevent it from moving.

so now, all i need to get is some good pads and i can slap them on there.

Thanks Chris. I didn't know that it had to be S brakes - I thought all models shared the same like the R53 R50 etc.

ok, i just put one side on to test fit. they fit perfect.

**but you need the brake lines from the R56!**

the R53 (at least mine) has the brake line fitting on the rear of the caliper, the R56 has it on top. this will not work.

so i just need some lines. anybody have any laying around?

i will post pics if you guys want...
