R57 2011 Mini Convert Leaking From Trunk Door

Trunk door leak?
I vaguely remember reading a thread (you should do a search: rear door latch failing on convertible) that the earlier model Convertibles (I just bought a 2015) had an issue with water making its way into the rear door, than filling up door with water/moisture and shorting out the rear door electronic latch....
From what I remember MINI issued a notice to resolve issue by recommending owners/dealerships remove that black plug on the bottom/middle or rear door so door would drain (and not fill up with water/moisture shorting out lock and rusting inside of rear door panel).
I just looked at my 2015 model and it appears there is no plug but an opening, allowing for drainage, I assume that's their solution?
Good luck

Otherwise check around the gasket material and make sure there's not any crud collected on it, and that the material is in good shape. As gaskets fail over time (and they all do) the material may start to degrade enough to cause streaking as rain washes along it. It would seem unusual for it to fail this soon though, so I'd check for dirt. If you're under an airport flight path or near something generating smoke then you'd also likely see streaks. We get that on our Pepper White R57 and on our white boat deck.
