What is my MINI worth?
Hi everybody, been away for quite awhile. My health is getting worse and my daughter has been in and out of the hospital over the last two years. Looks like I have no choice but to sell Fizzgig. Not running at this time. Needs a battery and either the chain tensioner or harmonic damper is making noise. Have a replacement damper. Has lots of mods plus a fair amount not installed. Only has 13,+++ miles on it. I realize what its worth and what it will sell for are two different things. Owned since new.
Thanks for reading this.
Kevin

It should start - maybe drain the tank and fill with fresh gas. I drove it into the garage clattering as it went. My battery charger got disconnected so the battery went dead. Can't afford a new battery. If it really isn't worth selling, maybe the uninstalled parts are worth more than the car.

You go right ahead and pay 10k, I'd say it's an impressive list but it's not a 10k car. Maybe 8-9 if it ran good, but the owner isn't even positive what's wrong with it. Mods generally bring down the value of a vehicle in the general market. Most people are put off by mods.
if I was closer I would go and help this guy get the car running. For what he put into it, it should be obvious that the car means allot to him. I am wondering if the Indy Mini Club could not help.

If a brand new battery is out of the equation, go for a refurbished battery from First Interstate. Shouldn't be more than $50? That will at least get you to a point where you can start the car.
I've put the refurbs in a few cars and have been pleased by the results. Even recommended to my Dad who got one for his Jeep.
Looks like there's a First Interstate battery shop in your area.

Sorry to hear your health hasn't been the best, just trying to help maximize the value of your MCS going forward.

Thanks for the battery info. May be better off selling uninstalled mods. Need to put together a complete list.
So of the items include:
Factory aero kit
Rear brake kit - matches front brakes
Center arm rest
16 inch SSR type C wheels (4)
17 inch SSR type C wheels (4)
4 new 17" premium tires - will list brand and model after I check
Lots more stuff I need to check.
Breaks my heart to get rid of Fizzgig - this was to be a forever car. I'm 64 and will never be able to replace with any car equal to Fizzgig. That's just the way it is.

Sell some parts and buy a battery.
The knocking could just be from a lack of driving it.
At 13k miles there's no way the dampner is bad... Im still using my original 02 crank dampner at 114k miles.
Maybe be the timing chain tensioner is stuck from no oil being in it from a long time. I would get it running, change the oil, and drive it around. See if everything is working better. If it's the problem, better oil pressure should hopefully get it to pop open.

the car is worth what you get someone to pay for it ... not a penny more
go ahead ... hang a $10,000 price on it if you think that's what it is worth. Until you find a buyer it is worth what?
KBB makes NO accommodation for mods. ANY smart buyer today looks at KBB (or similar) for a price. Unless you find an enthusiast that appreciates the mods they actually detract from the price.
I get asked what my 79 is worth regularly. I respond, "$12,000 and it is yours, right now." It isn't WORTH $12,000 until someone actually presents a cashiers check!
"If I just had the money" or "if the wife would just let me" don't count!
So far as KBB or a dealer is concerned yours is a 2002 that doesn't run .....
Sorry but this is the truth .... maybe you can make more money parting it out if willing to spend the time and effort.

KBB does not account for exceptionally low miles. Go ahead and try it out.
I just put in 2006 JCW with 13k miles and it spit out a price from 5200-6800. We all know it's worth double that with such low miles.
This 02 with zero mods would have to be worth at least 7 or 8 with only 13,000 miles. Yes you need the right person. The right person might also really appreciate the extra 10,000 in parts that come with the car.
You almost never get your money back out of the car from modding it but it can help sell the car. If he still had the original parts the best thing would be to put them back on and sell the after market stuff separately. The parts would sell very fast at the right price too.
It would be an absolute shame to part out a car with only 13k miles on it. I too wish I was closer to Indy so I could help you get it running. Good luck firenewt.
