Convertible top parts issue

I have a 2005 cooper. Recently the cables also had to be replaced. My mechanic suggested replacing the gate as well. The pin on the gate that locks into the a pillar is thinner than the pin on the car. As a result it doesn't seal properly. The part number hasn't changed and doesn't show being superseded. Can someone help?

Never heard of the pins being smaller on the front Gate, think you might be missing cover on one , its in the hardware set , looks like a bullet and goes on the pistol end of the gates. ?

Here is the R52 Convertible parts (2005-2008).
