If there Intercoolers came with 2 mounting brackets instead of having it just be secured by the hoses and their clamps, i would be interested very much so

Everything I have read indicates that additional mounting brackets aren't needed. Even in the case of the Forge, the top mounting tab doesn't get used on 09 and later cars.

Yeah but having it only secured by 2 hoses and their respective hose clamps seems, at least in my opinion, a major flaw for an item whose normal price is around 800$.

It's not a flaw and its one of the best designs. I had helix, then a forge, and soon a helix unit and the helix is a overall better design. But for efficiency I choose evolve over the rest. You wouldn't be disappointed with the helix especially at their gb price.

Agreed that it's really not a weakness. I thought it might be, until I installed one. It's not going anywhere, not even to rattle.

Correct. The 2 couplings hold it nice and tight. No way the intercooler comes off and if it did you would know immediately because you'd have a cel. Other than that, it was designed this way and you have to believe the designers did this with confidence. Helix has been around for too long in the game to ***** this up and if they somehow did, I know would have addressed it immediately.

Apparently having the name "Helix" still doesn't instill confidence in people to want a great fmic.

Looks good guys, hopefully another groupbuy gets started for you members that want the Helix unit.

I'm kinda not surprised that Helix hasn't initiated the gb because of the spat about the chinese fmic bs that went around a while back, so I'm glad that Helix would even consider a groupbuy again. Good luck guys/gals!

I missed that. Mind giving a brief summary so we have an idea over here?

We can do another GB for this fall. To comment on the mounting tab question, the Helix intercooler isn't supported by the hose clamps on the ferrules, it sits on the radiator support, sandwiched between the support and the bumper cover. It's immobilized. This is a non-issue, but has been raised by a vendor of another brand to cast doubt on our cooler. Look at the results: performance, durability, fitment, quality.

Let me look into production scheduling and we'll see about a group-buy.

This is excellent news and we look forward to hearing more later. Sorry to hear about the lowness of other vendors to try and undercut your product.

Options?

If they can be done in a black / powder coated finish, count me in!

Most coatings work against the thermal efficiency of intercoolers. If you are interested in a coating for a stealth look, your best bet, although expensive, would be to get the intercooler anodized. Powdercoats and hightemp paints will give you some protection from road grit and bugs, but the thermal efficiency will go down.

I haven't seen anything that would preclude it from being installed on a 13

What would be the purpose of IC upgrade on a stock 2011 MCS? What would I gain? Should I upgrade the IC with no other mods done to the car? Thanks!
