June Photo Contest Topic

This is the 18th installment of the monthly photo contest on NAM.

Follow this link for the: Rules and Submission Instructions The deadline for entry is the 25th of this month. Only *new* photos submitted to the contest gallery will be entered into the contest. Do not post your photos to this thread.

June's Photo Contest is again sponsored by VacuCam.

The prize for this month will be a VacuCam Tow Hook camera mount. Although it's still being manufactured, it will be sent to the winner when its finished. (Minus the Camera and Red Tow Hook). Better pictures coming later, but it's compatible with any small video/still camera.

If that doesn't appeal to you, you can opt to receive a detailing DVD.

In either case, the Tow Hook mount is there to increase your shooting options or the DVD is there to help you maximize the shine on your MINI for the next photo shoot!

June's topic :: Landscape

Interpret that how you will, keeping in mind that the photos must be MINI related and that only one photo per member per month may be submitted.

Rule 6: Photoshop may be used for photo adjustments, but each submission must retain an appearance that it was captured on camera.

Let's keep it clean & may the best photo win!

there is another altho my attempt at getting up the hill meant i was behind the wheel accompanied by my camera

having taken the corner so tight to avoid the hole i was on three wheels with no handbrake so foot firmly on the brake and my clutch smoking with tyres skidding for grip lol

I was told it looked great haha but at the time i was far from amused lol

edit

the pre turn lol

Wonder if Kurt will be sharing a sunset with us this month.

Just fournd the perfect location this afternoon, I'll have to go back at a better lighting time.

Is this directed at my rather copious usage of saturation and contrast? Just checking and if so, I blame it on all those years of using velvia. (seriously, send me a PM if so)

Ehh, this is a little similar to last months topic. Still, we should see some BEAUTIFUL pics in the next few weeks.

P.S. Lets all rememeber: 6. Photoshop may be used for photo adjustments, but each submission must retain an appearance that it was captured on camera.

Hey Dave, did you know there's some photoshop filters you can get from Alien Skin that'll recreate the traits of different film stock, including Velvia, for that real (film) "photograph" look?

I wonder if the "appearance" of a photograph can still be left up to interpretation?

Yeah, I downloaded a demo of this, but I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet. You guys have been giving me too many good ideas with masks lately and I'm learning a lot about mask manipulation. I'm not sure what this plug in will do differently for Velvia than what I can do in ACR with the saturation slider and a green tint shift. The pushed TRI-X looks very nice, but I'd bet there's a PS technique for creating that easily too. Have you tried this plug in?

I wonder the same. I could submit a (poor attempt at) Ansel Adams style photo in B/W with a ragged edge and film grain, all the while still looking like a real printed photo. Obviously I don't have a view camera and wouldn't know how to use it, but what if I did? Nonetheless, is this a submission for here or Worth1000? Just curious.

I'm really looking forward to seeing a bunch of great photos this month.
Cheers!

Finally, I can cheat with unposted sunset shots... oh wait it says *new* photos. Well, this is Arizona.
