Cruise control shut off

I was driving to New Orleans this weekend. Lots of rain. Cruising down I-10 with the cruise locked on 72 and the tunes b-boppin' along. I-10 was built through the swamps of lower Louisiana, so sometimes the road surface is a bit uneven. Kinda like ruts in pavement. Not the smoothest of roads, but it goes the right direction.
Hit a spot with like an inch of water and start hydroplaning. I grab the wheel with both hands and, before I could tap the brake, the ASC light comes on and the cruise control drops out. I drift over to the higher section of road and reset the cruise. Continue on a little wiser and a bit more alert.

I like the fact that the ASC has a vote with the cruise control. Just not sure that a sudden drop is always gonna be the best answer. I was about to to do the same thing the MINI did for me, so I was ready.

I can't imagine running cruise if I thought there was black ice on the road ahead. Just wonder what would happen?

I've had cruise control drop out on wet roads before (not w/my MINI)...that's when I understood why they say never to use cruise control on wet or icy (even possibly black ice) roads. Scary and dangerous.

Cruise on all cars, Mini or whatever, drops out when you go through a puddle that creates that drag on the car or that causes the wheels to spin unnaturaly. It is a safety feature.

Also many insurance companies will not pay out if they find you had cruise control on in bad weather and had an accident.

Also the MINI manual tell you not to use the cruise control in rain, snow or bad weather. Well at least mine does.

Also it is a very dangerous thing to do.

Didn't seem that dangerous at the time. Interstate road, light traffic, tailing a rainstorm. I had been on a better section of road, but, had just crossed over onto a portion that might need a little work. There hadn't been pooling on the road up to that point.
Like I said, a little wiser and a bit more alert.
