The washer on the shaft, then the gear pressed back (reversed) on the shaft. I made a mistake doing this but got away with it. The blue socket is actually on the water pump drive key instead of the shaft I'm pressing the gear on to. That key is probably on a shoulder on the shaft so no problem but if I did this again I would use a socket that's small enough to be directly on the shaft.
