Update from the Lone Star State

First and foremost - Happy Holidays, Y'all!

We're now shipping springs, jack points, endlinks, and our damper kits worldwide - guaranteed to make some people VERY happy for the holidays! Our damper kits will soon be running on Dutch MINI Cup cars!

We just thought we'd have some down time now that the season is over, but nope, we're engineering and testing fun new products for next track and autocross season!

And now, on to the fun stuff:

Big Brake Kit - We're now testing a new big brake kit that seems to be just plain SICK, SICK, SIIIIIIICK! As soon as our testing is complete, we'll fill you in on all the gory details of this 4-piston wonder that nestled neatly under a new set of 16x7 OZ Ultraleggeras (props to Alex @ TireRack!) that're wrapped in 225/45R16 Hankook z212 RS-2's.

Coilovers - We'll soon be testing more custom coilovers - a set for the Cooper/Cooper S and a set for the Cabrio... I'm going to be very hush-hush about these for now, until we get some benchmark data. We're excited about the possibility of bringing yet another coilover offering to the market.

The BBK on one of our test mules - ready for punishment!

We got all the kinks worked out and have documented the install for the MINI kit... Rotor is a 12.19" Revolution lightweight rotor made from the Brake Man's special, proprietary steel alloy. The kit uses their F3 Tornado caliper, 4 piston, hard plated and comes with all hardware, SS lines and pads. It's a thing of beauty, for sure.

As you can see, it clears my 16x7 OZ Ultraleggeras quite handily - it does NOT clear the OEM Daytona wheels. I'd like to see if it will clear the webspokes. Anyhoo, it should clear most aftermarket 16" wheels, and will definitely clear 17's. We can provide measurements for seeing if your wheels would fit.

Performance? Uh, toss a battleship anchor out the back and you get the idea. The power is plain nuts. It's cold out right now, so the true test will come when things get hot out - but I have no doubt that they'll be totally insane.

After bedding in the pads with our normal process (series of hard stops from 30-10, 35-10, 40-10, 45-10, 50-10, 60-10, 60-10, 60-10, 60-10, 60-10 with 1-2 blocks of driving between stops), I drove around the block to let them cool and then pulled into the garage. By the time I had gotten home (no more than 5 minutes), I could put my bare hand on the rotor and HOLD IT. Ambient temp was 45 degrees F that evening, so keep that in mind. Even so, I have NEVER seen that with cast iron rotors. Impressive the way these shed heat. And yes, you read that right - they're a steel alloy and NOT cast iron.

The Brake Man's F5 full race kit outperformed the Brembo Monobloc race setup - tests were performed at TexRacing here in Texas. Less deflection, less heat and better performance. This kit is at least on par with Stop-Tech or Brembo, offering at least the same performance (or better) and has a pretty high bling factor. You'll find the Brake Man's kits on sprint cars, modifieds, NASCAR racers and American Iron race cars.

One note - the rotor design DOES make an interesting noise under braking. It's kind of like when you stuck a playing card in your spokes when you were a kid - not that loud, but that's what it would remind you of...

Price will be $2625 shipped...

Another niche product from Texas Speedwerks!

And the new replacement rotors...

Yup, that's the actual color of the phosphorus coating! It's even darker in person.

They have the highest carbon content of ANY cast iron rotor on the market. Because of this, their thermal properties are superior to ANY aftermarket rotor - they can take more heat AND dispense with it faster. They outperformed Brembo replacements in head-to-head testing and are some of the finest OEM replacements on the market. Our vendor insists the performance will be better than ANY other aftermarket replacement rotor, bar none.

We'll be installing these and a set of Porterfield R4-S pads on a donor car this Saturday at the TSW WHQ.

In the very near future (4-6 weeks), we'll be offering:

1. Front or rear rotors a la carte.
2. Front and rear rotor package.
3. Front and rear rotor package with Porterfield pads of your choice (R4-S for the street/AX and R4's for the track (which Dr. Mike tested and loved before going BBK).
4. Complete brake kit - all 4 rotors, Porterfield pads of your choice, SS lines, and Motul RBF600.
