For 2009, DoS started with a clean slate and designed a new R53 specific intercooler that takes the best elements of our previous HEC-based W2A IC designs and couples them with some new thinking to create a more efficiently configured design. This new IC cools 225-275% more efficiently than the stock intercooler. It can keep your inlet temps at a constant 5-20 degrees (Farenheit) above the ambient temperature (Compared to the 40-95 degrees above ambient temperature offered by your stock Air-Air intercooler).

Intercoolers enable you to save the horsepower that you already have. For decades now, boosted performance gurus like Gale Banks have shown consistently that there is 1% HP savings for every 6 degree F temp reduction. Following this formula, you can see that the DoS Gen III W2A Intercooler enables you to conserve 12-25% of your available total horsepower - especially during scorching summer days. This means consistent power on demand due to a ready supply of denser, colder air.
