You should have seen his Race50. I’m sure he has pics of it in here, but he slept in there on the Dragon this weekend we were down there. Sleeping in a mini on the Dragon, doesn’t sound bad at all, free shower down at the gap, saving money for gas. Seriously you got to come out to MOTD this year. He has showed me a good chunk of TN/NC, I just need a pic of the clubby under the waterfall, wife doesn’t like bending the rules sometimes.

I'd love to go to MOTD this year, but I'm not planning that far out yet. Still trying to play cautious with the COVID situation.

I did make it down there 8 times last year, one of them was MSSD and we stayed in a cabin. I know its different for me, i have a safe place to stay, parents life in Sevierville, but i didnt let the pandemic stop me last year at all. Just got to be safe about stuff and im not going to lie about this part, i was just down there 2 weeks ago, and people still are not wearing mask in stores. Me personally IDGAF and wear mine, and the hand sani is in the door, and i've been fine. I will be there for sure this year, just hope it is a wife free weekend so the boys can go play.
Gotta subscribe to this thread, I'm hoping not to miss another run!
I have become good friends with Colin because of this post, this was just a fun run with friends. MOTD is 4/28 thru 5/3 and MSSD is in October around the middle of the month, these are the big Mini meetups. I’m sure there will be a few weekends thrown in here between now and then, well maybe more towards the end of February, beginning of March. It is a bit easier for me to get away on some weekends, parents live in Sevierville. Barring anything out of our control, we both with be there for MOTD, my PTO is already in and approved.
I might be heading down to the Dragon in April, thought about staying south of Knoxville- then after doing a Dragon run (or 2) was thinking about taking 143 from Robbinsville to 165 Tellico Plains.
Looking for input, total newbie. April's my only available time so I don't want to put this off and let another year slip by.

My tips...Try to get down to the Dragon before 10, sunrise to 10 am the traffic is less and you can get more runs in that way. Don’t cross the double yellow line, kissing the first yellow line is ok, that’s considered using your whole lane by some. If some one quicker approaches from the rear, pull off in a pull off and let them by, drive your drive but allow others to have fun as well. Take it slow in the beginning and allow your tires to warm up, then add speed as you feel comfortable. You can drive it in 3rd gear with a downshift or 2 into 2nd gear. When making multiple runs it doesn’t hurt at all to stop and let the car cool down, I typically give it 10-20 minutes. Make sure all fluids and tires are good before you head done there, store doesn’t open till 10 am and they have gas but not much in the way of other fluids for the mini. If you make it down there around sunrise and have all the fun you can take by 10 am, you need to go to the 270 degree overlook in Joyce Kilmer State Park, especially if it’s a clear day, totally worth the drive and Colin or I can give directions. If you don’t want to make that drive, head down 28 to Fontana Dam, the turn is right by deals gap store. I’m sure Colin will throw a few pennies in here.
