225 tires question again?!
225 tires question again?!
I'm currently using a set of 195/50/16 Yokohama A048 for my 16 by 7 ET 35 set up. I have no rubbing at the back, but that's the max I can go for the back only. I have lots of room in the front.
I just saw a set of 225/45/16 A048 tires locally for a great deal, but I have few questions in mind. I did do a research for 225 tires on the forum, but it didn't seem to answer my questions.... So let me know what you think?
1. if I use 225/45/16 front and 195/50/16 back, will it look really weird? (I mostly go track)
2. Does anyone have 225/45/16 on 16 by 7 wheels?
3. pictures please!!
4. or any other comments are welcome!
thank you!!
I think I will need a 5mm spacers to clear the front coilover if I switch to 225, this is a picture with my current 195 set up.

It's best to use same tires on all four but it's possible to use 195/50-16 in the rears however the 225/45 is about 0.9" wider section width. Outer tire diameter is similar so no problem there.
Mounting the wider tire will increase the tire's position facing inwards and outwards. Adding a small spacer is possible but watch your bolt or stud length- you might need longer bolts or studs if there is not enough threads to fasten on the wheels. 3mm spacer might not need change of bolt or studs.
5mm spacer is possible.
I think the 225/45-16 will work OK with your 16x7 rims. You might try just two tires mounted and check for clearance and fitment first both front and back and if it does work then you have the option for using 225/45-16 on all wheels.
