Sloppy Centering Rings
Sloppy Centering Rings
Has anyone measured the fit of their centering rings onto the hub? I have the metal rings for my 15x7 Kosei K1 Racing wheels and there is a lot of clearance (slop). The hubs of my car measure about 2.205" and the I.D. of the centering rings measure 2.250".
.045" clearance is a lot if you ask me! The wheels shake a lot at speed, even after being balanced. If I carefully torque the lugs off the ground watching the centering ring to make sure it has equal air gap all the way around they run much smoother. When I made up a set of rings for my 949racing wheels, I used .010" clearance, the wheels are still easy to install and they run very very smooth. Unless I find out that I have incorrect rings for my Kosei's, I will most likely make up a new set of rings with a better fit.
Any input on this?

I agree with Cristo, your hub rings are not for the Mini hub, the OD could be 73mm for the Kosei rims which is quite common for a lot of aftermarket rims, but you definitely need 56.1mm ID, your vibration problems will be gone.
