Rusty mounting surface fix

The Montegi Tracklites leave a lot of the hub and mounting surface exposed. I also don't use the center caps, so even more is exposed. The exposed surface rusts.
My fix was a fine wire brush drill attachment, steel wool, brake cleaner, painters tape and silver Rust-oleum High heat spray paint.
Attached are before and after pics. Alex at Tire rack said the paint was ok to apply to the mounting surface.

How long did you have to let the paint dry before putting the wheels back on?

I just got some Rota Slipstreams and the only thing I don't like is the holes between the mounting holes. Also, the back of the wheels is not painted so I thought painting anything at the mounting point wasn't a good idea. Glad to hear it is ok to do. Looks good.

I let it dry for an hour or so. When I take the wheels off tomorrow to get new tires (trying something different for autox on Sunday) I'll see how well it held up. The sections that are in contact with the wheel were not rusty. I am sure longer is better, but I ran out of time.
FYI some High Heat paints require that you bake them in your oven. The Rust-oleum high heat seemed to be the best choice.
