Surely.....what you want to do is:
********(borrowed from Hawk's website)
Burnishing Instructions
  1. After installing new brake pads, make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 30-35 mph applying moderate pressure.
  2. Make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph.
  3. DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!
  4. Allow 15 minutes for brake system to cool down.
  5. After step 4 your new pads are ready for use.
********

This process does get your new pads good-n-hot: you should smell hot brake pads when you stop to let things cool (do not apply the parking brake during this cool down)

HOPEFULLY this will make a marked improvment in the performance of the HPS pads......but let us know!

OK I need to refute myself Now that my caliper problem has been fixed the Hawk HPS pads are much more impressive. I never dreamed that my sticking caliper could effect brake stopping performance so much. The Hawks still do not have as much initial bite as the OEM pads but it is pretty dang close. Close enough that I am willing to trade it off for the practically nil amount of brake dust they generate

& thanks Jason for the bedding instructions. I talked to my installer & he has a procedure he uses so he handled it for me.
