ABS Problem?

2006 MC CVT

At low speed when stopping at heavy pedal pressure car will lock up and skid to stop. First time this happened dealer worked on it and I tested braking and things were fine. Then today on the way down to Lime Rock with the Keeler group I had to jam on the brakes at the end of a stop - car locked up and skidded again - I'll be taking it in soon but I was curious if others had similar problem(?).

Just got back from a short ride with the shop foreman at Keeler (my dealer) and replicated the condition where I brake normally from ~30 mph and then stand on the brakes at ~15 mph (as if I had to stop short) and the brakes lock and skid to a stop. The shop guy's attitude was any car will do that - but I contend that a properly working ABS will kick in and not allow the brakes to grab.

Any thoughts? Anyone?

If really only 15mph there may not be enough input from the ABS sensors to account for the slow rotation. Samling rate will be lower and depending upon how many hits it takes to compute this and the time to activate it you might actually be stopping before the system can respond.

Try a hard stop from 35mph and see if it locks. No way would I expect this at that speed.
