From what I have read all-season runflats suck. My runflats were performance. Frankly I have read that all-season non-runflats suck too. It is apples to oranges to compare all-season tires to max performance tires (or should I say lemons to oranges )

 

All-season tires have their place. They provide optimum performance between 20 - 50 degrees in wet and light snow ... right where the "performance" tires suck.

If your concerned with weather conditions and do not have real (as in 8"+ snow storms) snow, all-seasons are the way to go.

As to whether or not to use them versus performance RFs ... think about this ...

How often do you actually drive at 10/10s, that is, at the limit of adhesion? If your not driving at 10/10s, it really doesn't matter what tire your using these days. In other words ... performance tires are meant to get that last ounce of perfomance sticking against the road ... if your not driving like that ... at the edge of being in the weeds, it just dont matter.

To explain that better, if your on the skidpad and pulling .95g in the best eagle F1s, but only .92g in a RF Goodyear RSA tire ... then the only time the F1s are going to be better are those .03gs where the RSAs would be in the weeds. How often does that happen?

However, if you have any chance of being in light snow, cold wet weather, then the all-seasons will be much better than the high performance skates ... just take a look at the tirerack.com ratings in the difference areas.

As to RFs versus non-RFs, Bridestone RF 050As are second generation performance and are becoming standard equipment on BMWs and rate well at Tirerack. As time goes by, more and more will become available

Don't all new vettes have Eagle RFs? You can't say Vettes aren't meant for performance

 

I've had my car for over a week and considering I have not driven on runflats before, I must say I like them a lot!

 

I have 4 Dunlop 16" runflats on my 2006 MCS. They are in great shape, less than 7k gentle miles on them. I will travel anywhere from Norfolk to Philly to get rid of them. Any takers?
