Question on what can fit on my MiniS

I have HSport lowering springs on my 03 Mini S, and helix Camber plates, with stock shocks.
I currently have G.Racing Seki Wheels 17x7.0(42.0+ Offset) .. what ever that means....

what are the tire sizes in 17"'s that i can use. i have see so many and im not sure what all the numbers mean..

215/45/17 i think the last number is my wheel size? i have also seen 205/45 or 205/40? not sure.... i dont want to get tires that will rub? so can someone help me with understanding these numbers so i can make a good choice with new tires for my Mini S.

thanks.

The first number is the width of the tire in mm, the second number is the aspect ratio (height of the sidewall as a % of the width), and the last is the diameter.

Go to this link, and plug in some different tire sizes, and select the option for front and side images, and you will be able to see how the tire is affected by changes to these numbers. It might be helpful to see the changes in this manner.

I'm running General Exclaim 225x45x17 on original S-lites with 5mm spacers all around, no rubbing at all and great grip and response w/o jerking/hyper-sensitive at all = superior ride and control!!!!
