Email I just recieved from Goodyear

"Thank you for your email. We're sorry, but there are no plans to
produce the Eagle F1 GS D3 tire in size 205/45R17."

WHAT?????? Are they freakin' crazy ignoring one of the best handling cars out there??? I really want to put some on because they have recieved tremendously good ratings.

What is the closest thing out there that fits our cars and is not a run-flat?

Don't they have 215s? I think I've seen people with those tires using the slightly wider size (I do with another tire, works well).

For what its worth I've heard good things about the Mich PS2s and will likely give those a try next time around.

I've been running GS-D3's (215X40X17) forever. Awesome tire! I think they come in 215X45X17, too. Close enough to stock with no significant issues.

Eagle F1 GS D3s (215/45-17) with factory R90s?

Does anyone have this combination? If so, have you had any rubbing problems? I'm ready to ditch the run-flats. I'm seriously considering the F1s and would like any feedback from anyone using them. I'll probably splurge and pick up a ContiComfortKit to keep in the boot.

Yeah, the only problem is that to keep the same diameter for the speedometer to be accurate and proper clearances is 215/35/17, a 40 or 45 profile would be too tall right??

215/40-17 = 23.77in (603.8mm)
205/45-17 = 24.26in (616.3mm)
215/45-17 = 24.62in (625.3mm)

Tire Size Comparisons

Based on the Tire Size Calculator at www.1010tires.com, this is what they came up with for the stock and the 45 mm & 40 mm:

Width: 8.07" (stock); 8.46" (40mm & 45mm)
Overall diameter: 24.26" (stock); 24.61" (45mm); 23.77" (40mm)
Side wall: 3.63" (stock); 3.80" (45mm); 3.38" (40mm)
Revs/mile: 857.3 (stock); 845.1 (45mm); 875.0 (40mm)
Actual speed: 60 mph (stock); 59.1 mph(45mm); 61.2 mph (40mm)

From this, it appears that the 215/45-17 is the closest to stock.

215/45-17 on S-lites, no rubbing... just put 300 miles on them. I can't even begin to articulate how much better these are than the stock Pirelli euforias.

I believe that one our Canadian members has F1's, not sure what size. SOMC MINIute is his username. I am sure he is here on NAM, but not sure as what...
