Keep the runflats or ditch up??

I have a new cooper s that I'm picking up next week. 6 speed, BRG/white/web spokes, lsd and I'm having the JCW suspension kit put on. Should I ditch the runflats or keep em? I'm thinking about going with KDW2's, or BFG G-sports, 205-45-17 from Tire Rack.

I would ditch the rf's and the web spokes. Go light, you won't go back.

From a practical view most of us will use the runflats for awhile before switching to other tires. They don't offer as smooth a ride or as much performance but you've already paid for them and they will likely last from 10,000-20,000 miles depending on how hard you drive.

Replacing them isn't hard or that expensive and you can always keep them if you have the room and sell them as replacements for those who need a runflat later.

Most owners that replace the original tires with non runflats are very pleased.

What he said. You paid for the RFs, I would just replace them when you need to. Otherwise, you throw away money (unless you can sell them but most ppl dont want them)!

and the webspokes are another $500 you'd be tossing too. unless you are headed straight to the track, use them now and get your money's worth out of them. you'll have time to decide later. unless throwing away 1000-1500 is no big deal. in which case, would you mind paying my next insurance premium?

j/k, but you get my point.

After 26,000 miles we ditched the stock Goodyear runflats for Toyo Proxes-4 and I would never go back.

My plan is to keep the runflats and S-lites as a backup set to throw on the car when I go on longer trips. I'll use non-runflats and light wheels around town.
