Wheel hunt: ASA AR1 (BBS Mesh Stlye) vs. Rota Grid (Volk TE-37 Knock offs)...

I have an 06 RG MCS with 16" run flats. I have a set of 16x7 bronze Rota Circuit 8's that I had planned on putting on this car, but I want to do something different. (yes, the C8's will be for sale, check the classifieds in a bit)

I roughly know what i want, but i can not find exactly it. Anyway, here are the parameters:

• 16"
• dark (gunmetal, anthracite, hyper-black) - just no solid black.
• polished rim is ok
• 18 lbs or under (preferably a bit under!)
• $200 or under per rim

The two rims i have my eye on are:

•*ASA AR1 (BBS Stlye)

16x7, $159 each, 17.6 Lbs. Have ASA's on my wife's MINI - pleased with them.

Problem is, no gunmetal or anything dark in the 16" range. And i just don't feel like having brand new rims painted.

•*Rota Grid Royal Gun Metal Or Royal Bronze (Volk TE-37 stlye)

16x7, $500 delivered, 16 lbs. I have run rotas for over 8 years & loved them. They would be ready to go out of the box, lighter & cheaper than the AR1's.

-----

I really like both styles of rim. Always liked the BBS/BMW web spoke design - never had a car that could really pull it off. I think the MINI can.

I also love the TE-37 style. While a little different, i love the look of samtraks mini:

(used without permission!)

I know the Grids have slightly wider spokes, but that is a really simple look that really works. And i think the gunmetal would work well with Royal Grey.

----

So it boils down to this: Does anyone know of a rim that looks like the AR1 that fits my requirements? (and yes, i drooled all over the real BBS rims - just too pricey!)

And, feel free to comment on the other two - thanks!

my old motegi ff6 are the same as the grid, te37 knock offs, perhaps this will give u a better idea:

i think the AR1s look awesome though.... but the rota wheels looks great... depends if you like the mesh setup or the 6 spoke look... personally im a fan closer to the 6 spoke.. so i'd choose the grid

thanks for the pics - i know there was another DS with Grid style rims! Looks good.

Plus, you went the the Sub Zero - i have half an eye on that one as well, probably stick with the one of the ones i mentioned. Thank you for your pics!
