So now my Mintex Reds are squealing...

I have a 2003 Cooper with 40k miles. I did a brake pad change myself to Mintex Redbox pads. I did not use Plastilube. I did not change rotors.

So not a lot of power at first and no squealing. But now, after 300 miles of spirited driving. They feel great but are squealing consistently at 5-10mph. They are particularly noisy once hot.

The pads work fine. Less dust and comes off easier. But, I cannot stand this squealing, specially if it's long term! It is getting in the way of my Ipod integration and my Borla gurgling!

What should I do? Should I wait a couple more hundred miles? Apply plastilube? Buy Hawk Ceramics? I will do what's needed but if I'm going to get that dirty again, I'd like to know what's worked for you guys.

thanks in advance,
francois

not sure if you want to do this option, but there are sprays by CNC (i think)
that you spray on the rotor and let it cure. it's suppose to quiet it
down. (not talking about BrakeQuiet).

Ok, I had some time today as I was installing a rear aero kit...

I put on ani-squeal paste from Mercedes Benz. What a pain! It's like another brake job. I even had to compress the pistons again as they just would not go on otherwise.

I had to get three packets for $10 total. I lightly coated it on all metal to metal contact spots of the pads. I drove around for 10 miles and zero squealing. So far so good. If problem is solved. I'll be very happy!!
