Hello guys,
as I speak, my mini is being built with the sport pack, and I'm a little dissapointed because I just realized that I don't want the 16 inch runflats. This is something I did absolutely no research on until just recently, and now my sales rep tells me that it's too late to change my order. I know it sounds like a total waste of money, but I was wondering if(since they are sold as a dealer accesory) I could purchas the 15 inch 8 spoke's and have the dealer put those on the car when it arrives anyway? They told me this couldn't be done though.
I know absolutely nothing about tires, the only thing I'm going on here, is that I live in NYC where the roads are in the worst condition ever! So I thought I could use a slightly softer ride, and also that I love love love the classic look of the 8 spoke wheels.
Anyone have any suggestions for me? Is my dealer BS-ing me, or would it reallly be bad to have 15 inchers on a car with the sport pack? I don't really understand why that would be a no-no.

There's nothing wrong with having the 15" wheels with the sport package; I'm guessing that the issue is that it's hard to get an extra set of wheels from the factory right now, in addition to the ones installed on the car. They're still making cars as fast as they possibly can, so they're probably putting a low priority on these kinds of special requests.

You might have some luck searching for a set of the 15" wheels in the marketpace forum here or on MINI2; a lot of people are switching out their wheels for custom ones, and putting the stock wheels up for sale. Good luck!

Another thought - it's very possible that you might find someone with the 8-spokes willing to trade with you straight up (meet at a MINI dealer and simply trade wheels/tires). The 16s are a $500 option, so there are probably people who would be happy to do this, and who don't have very many miles on their tires. Someone might even be willing to pay you $100-$200 for this.

If it is just the runflats you don't want you could
just change the tires although chrisneals second
post sounds like a plan....

Thanks for the suggestions! Right now, I'm supposed to be getting the r87 wheels, but since this is a dealler accesory, I believe, I can still cancel that. Do you think I'd find more people willing to buy/trade for these or the stock r83's?
