90% decided on wheels

Now I have to ask about perfomance gain. I'm looking at the Rota Subzero's at 16x7 and I currently have X-lites. I checked wheelweights and the weight savings shows to be 3.1lbs per wheel. Stock shows 17.6lbs and Subzero's at 14.5lbs.

This is for a daily driver with quite a bit of spirited driving on the back roads. Also Dragon trips and Phil Wicks on occasion. I understand a reduction in wheel weight does help but how much it helps I have no idea about.

From what I understand, the Subzero's will stick out a little further than stock with a 40mm offset. What differences will I see by changing to Subzero's other than a different look? Speed or handling? I still plan to keep the same size tires. 205/50/16 ES100's.

I'm trying to justify changing the wheels. Being cheap has its drawbacks.

The lighter weight wheels will help your accelleration a little bit, but it won't be a huge change.

For really significant weight savings, you might want to consider some 15" wheels which can get down to about 11 pounds. . . tires will also be a little cheaper in a 15" size too. . . .

A nice 15x7 wheel is on my wish list, but like you I am cheap and have my eyes on some rather expensive wheels (not going to happen). . ..

Don't think you're going to feel any difference at 3 lbs lighter with the same diameter and same tires. Aesthetics would be the only reason to change.

Wheel offset

40 offset, said to cause problems if lowered. Consider this aspect - you might want to lower later.

Well, this reinforces the saying. You gotta pay to play.

I'd like SSR Comps but like Yucca says (not going to happen).

Thanks, all.

FWIW - I just sold a set of new Xlites to buy a set of Subzeros - I just love the look of that wheel. As stated above, I doubt you'll really feel anything but the placebo effect, but the point is that if you like the wheel a lot, it is lighter.
