Tires!!

I am completly lost on tires. I'm hoping some of you can help me. My two front tires have never been rotated after 33,600 miles and they are worn on the inside. I had an estimate on these today for 15" Dunlop perfomance tires and for the the installation, etc. They would be $175 each. These are the same tires that are on there now. First, is this reasonable, and second, are these the tires I should be looking at? I have a 2004 MCS. Any help on this is appreciated since I have been looking on this website and haven't seen anything to help this novice.

Thank you

15"? 16" do you mean? (195/55/16 DUNLOP SP Sport 5000A DSST)

If so, that's a pretty reasonable price. $140 at the Tirerack each,
considering freight and mounting/balancing, it might be even more
than $175 each...

Run Flats

My wife took in our 2002 Mini Cooper which has 24,000 miles on it. To her chagrin, they told her she needed 4 new run flat tires. Is this a bit premature? They indicated that they do not rotate tires in their service over the years. What effect will that have on the tires?

My wife complained so much and insisted they contact the Mini Rep regarding this issue. They said they thought the tires should last for 36,000 miles and would pay 1/3 toward new tires. I thought that was pretty generous. What say you?

I would say that's generous and you should run with it. I thought the warranty covered everything but your gas and tires. Most discussions I have seen have the run-flats expiring around 25K miles. I was just told today (not from a MINI dealer) that I will need new tires at 25K miles. I also rotate mine every 5K miles.

I guess it all depends on driving tendencies. My Pirelli euphori@ runflats have something like 20-25k on them, and they would probably last to 30k or so.

That said, 25k does not seem all that uncommon to need new tires in the MINI crowd...
