What is the minimum wheel clearance for a big brake kit?

I just installed a BBK and it works/looks great but I only have about 2 mm of clearance between the wheel spokes and the rotors. Is this enough, or am I taking a risk here?

Opinions or relevant anecdotes appreciated...

IIRC, 3MM is typically a minimum I've read about on the Brembo website.

I have been running a set of Brembos with the stock s-lite rims for several months, with 20mm spacers, to clear the brake kit by just 2mm.

The back side of the wheelspoke HAS nicked the brake caliper ever so slightly on a couple of occasions. Presumably as the wheel structure has deflected under loading in an agressive turn, or in the unfortunate moments where I have hit a pothole.

I'm buying new rims as we speak, to better clear the kit, because my spacers are just too big to make any larger. I have some minor rubbing issues as it is.

Your options:

1- If you don't mind using them, you could run 5mm spacers and be all set.

2- you could buy new wheels

3- you could risk it, and probably be ok, but all it takes is one thing to happen and you could be kicking yourself.

What is the thinnest spacer available, and where can you get them?

3mm is fine. Granted I've probably come closer on occasion. Better not let the wheel bearings get worn!

The 'thinnest' spacer is probably the one I supply with the 13" kits- about 1.5-2.0mm or .065 plate (at home so it's from memory) but with this you will most likely require a wheel stud kit as well.
