Time for the first brake job...

...at 75k. Don't think I can complain about that. Anyway, I'm hearing a lot of grinding, so I'm gonna have them looked at. Assuming it's needed, has anybody done it themselves (pads & rotors)? Has anybody had it done at a non-dealer shop? Any thoughts on parts purchase and what did you pay? I'm in NH and my dealer is Peabody (which has an awesome service dept, in my experience).

Thanks,
Jim

I should think any GOOD mechanic could replace your pads or rotors. But ti's up to you on whether you want to have the dealer do it... I mean, you're out of warranty anyway.

Depending on what needs to be replaced, now might be a good time to consider upgrading. Like, using higher performance' pads if your pads need replacing. Or putting on a big brake kit if your rotors/calipers are shot, for example.

As components wear out I usually upgrade them to the next level.

it's not a hard job. consider doing it yourself. there's how-to's in various places.
