Since I don't live close to HF location, I called order desk to see if the Caliper Tool Set could be ordered by phone or on-line for 50% off the list price of $39.99. Was told by girl that she does not show any discounted price for that part #

Some very good news... This Caliper Tool Set is 50% off now . I was out the door for 21 and change. Considering that it is supposed to work for many makes, that a pretty good deal...

I went back today to buy one more for Tony Nuzzo (I'll see him this Sat at Laguna Seca), and I also picked-up 3 One Man Brake bleeder kits at 3.99 each (two for Nuzzo, and one for me ). The special price for the caliper tool stated, 'as per the adverstistement'? Somewhere it's advertised I guess, and it's good until 05/16!

I'm going to go back when I can just meander the aisles... I want a couple of those magnetic trays to put bolts and nuts in while working on projects. Again, like 3 bucks each...

Guys, check the HF paper ads in your local stores (usually at the entrance) as the discount might be in there. I was prepared to pay 40 bucks, but saw a 50% discount tag on the shelf, and nearly on the floor that notified me. When they scanned it, their computer did the disco automatically. This might be a national thing...

Hey, if anyone is interested in a brake bleed discussion... :

Be well.

I tried every suggestion in this thread to get the pistons back in the rear calipers of my '03 MCS. Nothing worked. No amount of torque applied to the C clamp (and I was using a six-inch extension handle) would budge the pistons. I also disconnected the parking brake cables but no effect. Ditto for turning the piston - no results. Finally, I cracked open the bleeder nipple. That did it - was almost able to push it back by hand. Did a precautionary bleed afterwards, but no air in the system. I figure as long as you're pushing the piston back there's no way for air to get in. Did lose about 100ml of brake fluid per side, so have some handy for topping up.

If you opened the system, you might have gotten some air the lines. Please be really careful before driving. You might need to do a bleed...

The C-clamp and block of wood didn't work for me as it has on other cars. The Harbor Frieight tool made it simple...

Someone posted in another thread that it is much easier to compress the rear pistons with the fluid reservoir cap unscrewed.

A fellow NAM member reported great results!
i have one of these and it works well. plus it works on so many other cars, it's just a good buy. but if you can wait till there on sale do that. i know they go on sale rather often for 19.99. that was the price i paid. up till them i did the pliers thing.

also once you get any fluid leakage, no matter where you get it from, or how you do things, you have to bleed the system. be safe out there. i have been finding even on bone stock cars every two years or 60 K a good flush makes the brakes feel so much better.

good luck.

I just got this tool too from my local harbor freight Outlet. They charged 19.99 at the store too.

Sorry for the bump but this page shows up in the top few searches on google for "mini brake tool" so it seems like a good thread to keep alive! I'll update in a few weeks when I actually put the pads on.
