This morning I had my new Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s size 205/50ZR16 mounted and balanced on my JCW. The tire shop said they set the pressures at 41psi! That sounds a bit high to me and the tires feel like they could lose a few psi.

Recommended pressures for these babies...maybe 35-37psi?

I'm about to replace the tires on my '03 Cooper S. I was looking real hard at the GoodYear F-1 in the 215/40-17 size. Tell me what your initial impressions are with the tires.

BTW: 41 sounds a little high to me. My Dunlap 9000s always ran better up arounf 37 - 38 psi.

I'd start mid to high 30's, then experiment a little.

I use 35-38psi usually in that same size.

(35psi summer, 38psi winter....since the tire pressure doesn't go up as
much as it does on hot summer roads).

I ran 215/40-17s, and then went to the Toyo T1-S to save a few $. I'm going back to the Goodyears when these are shot. that pretty much says it all.

The 2005 Owners' manual gives recommended pressures for non-oem tires. Check your manual.

I've been running GS-D3s for thousands of miles (215/40/17). 35 lbs. works for me in both street and racing applications. Your fronts will wear about twice as fast as the rears, but, unless you're all race, they're still good for at least 25K miles (the fronts).

Also, they really DO hold the road in wet conditions.
