Duration before getting wheels?

I am just curious, how long did it take you until you got aftermarket wheels on your mc?

I am hoping to get wheels within a few months of getting the mcs.

NM - my mistake. Post is about wheels not tires.

I lasted 300 miles before I was able to ditch the runflats on my MCSC. Bought some Toyo Proxes 4 and had them shipped. Mounted by NTB - they thought I was crazy replacing brand new tires.

I know people that had new wheels waiting in their garage when they brought their MINI home for the first time.

I usually get a set within 6months if I have a problem with the factory
wheels... I try to use the factory wheels as much as possible as I like
the subtle look, but usually they're just too heavy for my driving and
get lighter weight ones.

For the first set about 5 months but that was 5 sets of wheels ago.
Yikes!

My garage looks like tirerack.com
One stock set of 17"
One light street set
One light autocross set
One stock autocross set
Once stock track set.
And on and on.
Did you know that tires can fall over once you stack them over 10 high?

Put them on at dealer before I drove the car.

I had wheels a month before my car was built and I put them on at the dealer's before I drove the car.

The original S-not so-lites were sold to a co-worker for his MCS. He got a perfect set of wheels and run flats and I got cash to offset the cost of my SSR Comps.

best of both worlds

I ordered Bliksem with the 15" 7-holes and all season conti's, but
I got my SSR GT1's (16x7 43ET) and BS SS-03's (205/50/16's)
about a month before the car arrived.
They actually went on the car a month after I got it , when the
weather got past the snow & freeze stuff (although got surprised
by an early april snow and had to put the 15's back on for a few days).

I swore that I was going to keep my car totally stock. Five months later I got the Ro-Ja LTs, then the Redline boots, the Whalen, the Euro tray, and yesterday I got a Borla exhaust installed. I also have a Dinan CAI that is going to be installed today, front and back M7 grilles on order, a retrofit chrome S grille, retrofit chrome interior bezels, and I will have the M7 springs & Alta control arms in the very near future. So much for keeping it stock. BTW, the first thing I would get if I were you - order it before you get the car - is a Whalen Shift **** - see the sponsor directory. This is absolutely the only thing on my car that I couldn't live without.

Almost 18 months. It took that long for me to get start autocrossing. I wanted to save my street tires and got a set of Monza Wheels to mount summer tires on. The Monza look like SSR Comps but are a bit heaver and a lot less costly. Randy Webb sells them.

To buy or not to buy!

It has been since Sept, I first went through the 17" vs 18" and then the run flat issue. I decided on 17" Konig Imagine Opal with some type of non runflat, only to find the wheels on BO from the mfg as of Jan.

I likewise thought about keeping the car stock, but there are so many good looking wheels, I couldn't resist. I do plan to keep my old wheels/tires and put them back on at time of sale/trade. I usually trade every 2-3yrs/24-36K, so I would be buying at least one set of tires anyway.

I would love to have my wheels asap. I am just concerned, an extreme what if, if I order the wheels, have them sit in the garage until I get the car, and when I go to put it on the car and it doesn't fit right and I go to call the comapny it will be past the typical 30 days. So I suppose I will just wait and have the new wheels within 2 months.

That's a good idea. I would just wait too. No sense spending thousands
of dollars and you can't even use it.

i have my stock 17 runflats for 23k miles. stock wheel and stocck tires.

last summer i changed my stock wheels into after market.
then, the problem starts, i was addicted on this wheels stuff. in the past 10months, i have had:

G-Racing, Team Dynamics Pro race1, OZ pro Drive, Replica M Serise, Team Dynamics again and Flick WASP last week.

It is funny how things turning into. I might need to see a doctor for this condition.

MHO, get away the stock ASAP, as soon as you use it, you lose money from reselling it. so get the right wheel and change it right away and sell the stocks! if you want aftermarket wheels
