Eagle Sport AS or BFG G-FORCE COMP2 A/S+ for my '04 R53?
I don't know much about tires (these days).
What I do know; is that I ditched those annoying, overpriced, Pirelli "always flat" (i.e. run flat) tires along time ago.
For the last 10 years I've run Bridgestone 205, 45r17 Potenza. Unfortunately, they are also a bit pricey, do not really last long and don't preform/grip well under wet conditions as I hoped they would.
I've since relocated to a state where we may experience some occasional snow. A couple of years ago we had less than an inch and I couldn't get enough traction to drive to work with those Potenzas.
Winter is coming. I'm looking for low noise, All Season (sport?) radials for my Mini at a reasonable price (under $200/tire).
I've kind of narrowed it down to: BFG G-FORCE COMP2 A-S 205-45ZR17 88W XL Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season VR 205 45R17 XL
I've searched some threads re: what some NAM members are running/prefer...I didn't see any mention of the tires I've listed.
I'm kind of on a budget since putting so much into the car already - Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
I just put some Goodyear Exhilarates on my Countryman, with rebate they were about 160 per tire. They are certainly softer-riding than the Pirelli run-flats, and MUCH better grip in the turns, especially in the wet. One of them required a lot of weight to balance, and it still had some vibration. They replaced it, no charge. I'm glad they did, but, it doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy that a brand-new tire wasn't nearly perfectly balanced. Anyway, I still have not found the traction limits of these tires, they are so much better than the P7 Cinturano (don't think I spelled that right) that came on the car...that said, the P7's were smooth as glass at high speeds on a smooth road....the Goodyears still have a tiny bit of an imperfection at highway speeds (maybe just need another person on the balancing machine being more precise?), or it could be these tires aren't ever going to be as smooth as the P7's on the highway.
Hey, thanks for chiming in folks!
I'm still comparing all choices and finding much better deals online opposed to the brick and mortars in my (current) area.
However, NONE of the shops/stores will mount tires unless I purchase directly from them. I may have to track down an independent shop
that will do the work. Hopefully they'll do it right and not scratch my rims.
I’ve run the BFGs on a volvo S60 T5 a couple years ago. They had really good grip and stability for performance, and ride quality was good to. But they don’t last the longest and are not the quietest
