Improved Tires on the 2017 Countryman?

The Motoring File review of the new 2017 Countryman contains the line:

"a much improved run flat tire that is standard on the Countryman in the US."

My new MINI Countryman S has the 19 inch wheels with Bridgestone Potenza S001 tires installed (225/45 R19 92W 280AA). Tire Rack says these tires have been used on BMW 3 series cars for several years. So, I wonder what improvements have been implemented? My car rides very nicely - much better than the 2013 Paceman S I traded in - but I wonder if that is due to an improved suspension and chassis - and not the tires.

Anyone have any information about changes to the run flat tires? Given the smooth ride, these are the first run-flats I have had that are really pleasant. Tire Rack quotes a $350 price, so these are _really_ expensive tires.
