Running totally without protection for now. Having dealt with a run-flat that was totally destroyed ... what's the difference? I did manage to get it to a tire place a few miles away and, guess what ... no fun-flats in their inventory. AAA is on speed-dial.

Having switched to a non RF set of 18s for our 2016 f54, have been looking daily for a Mercedes donut spare. Craigslist came thru. An ad for a free blow up C class spare. It was 100 miles away but it was a nice day for a drive. And it was free. So I will pump it up today and report if it still works from 2003.

Read a post here a while back that tire shops will not repair a tire that has been Slimed due to the residue Slime is a mess to clean up during the repair.

Slime is water soluble and is not hard to clean out. Fix-A-Flat hardens up and is hard to clean, it will also plug up the TPMS sensor, where Slime, wipes off of the sensor.

if DYNAPLUG can't get you going

none of the squirt cans will either .... and DYNAPLUG lasts a LONG time

+++++

I tried fix-a once and after using it the balance was so out of whack that I replaced the tire .... and started over.

Fix a flat, slime etc. are all, in my opinion/experience a last ditch "need to get going" solution to situations where a plug can't cut it but you might be able to limp along a bit further. If a plug can't get you home, the tire probably isn't really salvageable anyways.

Thus stuff is for emergencies, not daily use.

Slime power repair kit.

That's all I have. Fits perfectly behind my pass side seat.
Thanks, I went with this too.

My wife's Countryman has one of those in the boot. She's got RFT tyres year round, but it's still nice to know it's there.
