r53 + 949racing 15x8 + 225/45/15 RC-1 or NT01

Needing some HPDE tires for my r53.

949 racing 15x8 +36 offset wheels

Tire choices
225/45/15 maxxis RC1
225/45/15 NT01

anyone know if these will fit ok without rub? I'm running KW v3 coilovers, eibach camber plates, swift springs 9kg/8kg. I run a small spacer on the rear so I clear the trailing arm a tad better but I probably could run without it, it's very close.

I have another set of tires for rainy days, or my autocross tires. I dont mind if I get a little rub but I dont want my fender liners or arch trim to go flying off

225/45R15 would fit Mini with no issues being so short. 8" with Et36 is aggressive enough to rub on outer fender edges and the rear bumper bracket of an R53. Dremel time.

thanks! now I just need to decide on which dedicated track tires.

I am going to cord my re71r and have the new tires installed a the track, might have some pit modifications to the fenders if the re71 dont last all weekend

with that wheel and offset it is possible that for your R53 the inner wheel edge will rub on the rear horizontal trailing arm. You can tell because the paint on the arm will be scratched off. Not all wheels will rub as clearance is minimal.

Best to have a pair of 3mm wheel spacers on hand to allow for additional gap. Having long wheel studs is best for using a spacer.

How much front negative camber do you have? If you have adjustable front camber plates then try to get as much negative as you can. Without using more front negative camber you won't be using all of the front tire treads when you take tight or fast turns at speed. You'll wear out the outer tread blocks.

You mentioned you had RE71R tires, where were they worn out the most?

as I said I run a spacer on the rear. Even without it mine does not rub at the trailing arm but it was so close that I do run a spacer and longer studs in the rear, where did you find a 3mm spacer? I need a thinner one

I run about 3 degrees up front and about the same in the rear this is a dedicated track car, on front I maxed out my eibach camber plates

my tires went from brand new to no rain groove on the outside front edges in 1 trackday, had to flip the front to the back for second day and slow down a bit on the end of the sessions or they overheated and started to melt the edge bad

stock k2 v3 springs suck, way too soft lots of body roll, the swifts fixed that but holy crap this is not a daily driver now for sure, and the roads around here, they really suck lol
