18" Pirelli Cinturato 205/40/R18 86W tyres on SD
Hi all,
I wanted to ask for your advice.
I found a Cooper SD F56 I wanna buy.
I have only one doubt as the model has 18 inch tyres, Pirelli Cinturato 205/40/R18 86W.
I currently have a Cooper R56 model (from year 2011) and I find it too bumpy on the 16" standard wheels.
I know that the new F56 are less bumpy, however because of the 18" wheels it might be more bumpy again..
Unfortunately, I cannot take the car for a test-drive.
Do you think it is significantly bumpier because of the 18" wheels?
Does anyone has experience with these wheels on the F56?
Thanks

I have those (came on my 2015 JCW 3 Dr Hatch). They are getting grippier the longer I run them, but some still prefer the Dunlops. I have always liked Pirelli's.
As for ride quality, I really have no issues with them, and I have the JCW Sport Suspension. It can get a little bumpy on awful roads, but generally, for run flats with sport suspension, they are fine as far as I'm concerned.
As for non-run flats, I would expect them to be a softer ride, but the handling may not be as good & crisp (just don't know).
As for the diameter, personally I prefer the larger diameter wheels/tires on the F56....looks soooooo much better!!!
Now, I know there will be some who disagree with my take, but it's probably more to do with the type of roads where you live than anything else....you "will" feel more harshness on awful roads with 18's, no doubt!
HTH,
John
