Running h&r sport springs on the clubman currently with stock 15x5.5 and am looking at borbet a's. While I'd love to pull off the 9" versions it seems silly so I'm going 7.5" all around. The end result though will be 16x7.5 ET20. Is this going to be too aggressive? What tire options might I have to look into? Thanks for any all advice.

 

The offset is really aggressive for the Mini, but there are plenty of owners who have done 8 or 9" wide. I'd suggest searching for their threads. 205/50R16 is a pretty good size to consider.
