I have read in the past that the DWS tires don't hold up well if driven hard. I have several sets on different cars, including a clubman S, X3 and A4. These are all driven by my wife and daughters who don't drive aggressivly and the wear has been excellent. I expect all three cars will approach 50K miles before needing a change.

The tires are also quiet and relatively squishy if you know what I mean. Not a track day tire but fine for a daily driver. They are also fine in snow on the X3 and A4. We run snows on the clubman.

same prob here. i had r98 wheels which i absolutely loved but bent a wheel and had curb rash on the others. it was more expensive to replace and fix than new wheels. so, i ended up with Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s. love them. got them from discount tire special order.

for the price its hard to beat. OZs are nice but more $$$. perhaps some konig feathers? those are nice too and leave some cash for mods. also looked at nm engineering but really wanted a 8" wheel

I can't say much about the DW, but I have owned the DWS and love it! Not the best dry grip in the world, but amazing in the rain, and thread wear was great, pretty quiet until it got low tread, but that's typical of any tire for the most part.

Since you live in California, You may be better off with the DW.

i had a set of DW last summer, size 215/45R17. i have no complaints. they are on the expensive side, but in my opinion, totally worth it. this summer i am going to test fit 225/45R17. does anybody have any experience with this size on an r53?
