I have left over tires from my last car (SAAB aero) will they fit?
I have a set of half worn tires I would love to use for auto-x, but am afraid of rubbing...
Has anyone, or is anyone using 235/45/17's?

Probably too many issues to be worth trying. The 235 width would normally rub, and is molded for an 8" rim (fits 7.5 to 9" though). The tire diameter is about an inch more than the OE tire size. The tires probably weigh 25 to 27# each.

Using stock 17x7 rims or wider?
235/45-17 fits rims 7.5-9" wide, ideal for 8" wide, 25.4" tire diameter.
So that tire is too tall for the MINI and too wide to fit on a stock 17x7 rim.
I would not recommend that you use it for a MINI
