15 INCHERS
>>I have the factory 15" 8-spoke (R82 I think) silver wheels and they look great and very classic in our '02 Cooper CVT. These wheels are very light too (Around 12-13 pounds each).
For stock rims in 15x5.5" there are the-
8 spoke which is 15 pounds each rim
and 7 hole rim which is 12 pounds each rim
Looks vs lightness. Take your pick but using 15" rims in an MCS (edit: may) affect the speedometer accuracy.
For tire size you can run various sizes depending on the width of the 15" rim. Using a 15x7 for autocross you can go as large as 225/45-15 for the huge contact patch but only a few racing tires come in that size. For street use you can go with 195/50-15 or up to 205/50-15 even with stock 15x5.5 rims (get a tire specialty shop to mount and balance them using good equiptment). Those wider tires work/fit better with 15x6.5 rims though.
If you have an MCS with larger brake calipers it will not fit smaller rims like 15" and some 16".
Stock calipers will fit all 15" rims as long as the offset is within a certain range based on your suspension. Stock suspension will work with offsets in the 37mm to 48 mm range without rubbing the wheel wells.

>>Wonder if any MCS owners have fitted these in their cars.
Yes it fits and has been done.

Only if using a higher/lower profile tire. See Wheel/Tire Sizing FAQ for allowable sizing options to fit speedo accuracy.

Even with 205/50 15's (the smallest I would go) you are only off 3-4mph at 70mph so it's not a big deal. I always keep it in mind and adjust my driving accordingly.

Also, there is a nice benifit to smaller diameter tires, you will get a noticeable improvement in acceleration.
