Just bought these...From Tire Rack. Q's about the "old" ones...

Hi All,

I bought a 2003 Mini sight unseen from St. Louis...Drove it to Florida (yesterday to today).

I did not waste any time in buying a nice set of wheels / tires from Tire Rack. I bought the car from a Honda dealer in St. Peters, MO. The young salesman was a good guy, but really did not know too much about the car. He said, "there is plenty of tread left". In actuality the tires that were on the car were brand new and put on it less than 1000 miles from me buying it. If I would have known this, I may have only bought the wheels...

Anyway, I assumed that the tires may only have a few thousand miles left, therefore I planned to "unload" them on Craigslist. I am thinking maybe I will keep them for a back-up set...

I also may want to do a couple of autocrosses...That being said, which tires are better? The "new" ones I just mounted or the "new" ones that were on the OEM 17" wheels?

The "old new" tires are Yokohama AVID Envigor 215/45 17"
The "newly mounted tires (on new Motegi SP10 wheels) are Hankook Ventus V21 EVO 205/45 17".

Which are better? Stickier?

Here are pictures of the "old" combo and the "new".

THANKS in advance!!

Keep the stock wheels! Just encase you ever decide to get ride of your MINI it will increase your resale value. Also it is nice to have something just encase you have a flat.

They are pretty different. Envigor is more quiet and will last longer. V12 has more dry and wet grip, and shorter tread life.

If your an agressive driver you'll appreciate the V12's handling.

Thanks!! We have fun "out here" in Florida...Not on the typical postage stamp sized lot that are common here.

While Florida does not have the curvy roads that many other states have, we happen to live in an area with some decent ones...Have not had the car out there yet.
