What size spacer would I need to use to allow me to put a JCW Brake kit on my R57 2009 Mini with 17 inch wheels. I know the R98 wheels are not compatible with the JCW Brake Kit but I'm hoping if I add a spacer I could then add the JCW brakes.
Well the common sizes are 5mm and 15mm, so given the size of those caliper/rotors I would go with the 15mm spacers. Also, I would re-balance the wheels and have them place the weights more on the inner barrel and use the thinner weights.
I have R98s and have had the impression JCW brakes would clear fine. I guess you learn something new everyday. I would go with 15mm just to be safe. You will need new wheel bolts. I plan on installing 15mm wheel spacers to get a nice flush look.
Hello community. I know this is an old post. Is there a definite answer on the required spacer size for JCW Brembo Big brake kit on the front rotors? I do have R98's installed on my 2009 Cooper S and just ordered a JCW Brembo Big brake kit. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I've seen 12mm, 15mm and one post mentioned 20mm. I would like to keep my 98's but if I have to go with the challenger spoke wheels I guess I'll have to replace, Thanks.
Sorry for digging the thread but i just fitted the 4 piston calipers from BUDWEG.
I've used 20mm spacers on my R52, 15mm look they can fit, but i didn't like how tight it looked, and if somehow the wheel wobbles or a wheel bearing goes out, the chance of hitting the caliper is too high IMO.
