New tires?
New tires?
I'm looking to put a new set of tires on my 2006 MCS before heading down for MOTD. I've had Goodyear F1s on for a few years, but am looking at 215/45-17 NITTO NEOGEN. Anyone have any experience with this brand or recommend something else? Thanks for your input.
Can't help you, Yoko S.Drives for me, although I did consider the neogens. (s.drives are good but loud, fyi.)
Hate to be "that guy" but if you use the search function there are a couple of threads that may be helpful. I think a few users do have them and like them. Just search for Nitto Neogen. There is a thread I started asking for info on that one, Fuzion ZRi, and General Exclaims. Some good feedback. Good luck!

S.drive or Nitto?
OK, I've narrowed it down to Yoko S.drive or Nitto NT NeoGen ZR. Tread wear rating: Yoko 300, Nitto 280. Both A rated in traction a temperature. Both "Z" rated. Any input on experience with these type of tires? One of the interesting things I've read in reviews of the Yoko S.drive is that they become a little noisy as they wear. I'd like to know if anyone has had this experience.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'll give my two bits...
I had the S Drives mounted on my car - coming off the original run-flats... I did NOT care for them - for one reason, and one reason only: Turn-In Response. I went back to Discount Tire and traded them the next day (great return policy!!!)
In fairness - coming off a run-flat - you can't get a much stiffer side-wall on any other tire; so the S Drives felt like mush to me. I will agree the S Drives were quiet, had good grip, and a much more comfortable ride; but I didn't like what I was giving up.
My suggestion is to decide what you want most out of a tire, then look at the testing done by Tire Rack, and especially the customer reviews. They have great comparisons with both subjective and objective opinions. For me - my top criteria were: turn-in; then grip; then wet performance (tread wear and noise were near the bottom). I ended up with Dunlop Direza Star Specs.
Yokaham Advan Neovas would also fit my selection criteria - but they are much more expensive than the Star Specs...
I was looking for Extreme Performance tires; while the S Drives are in the Max Performance category... so your search would be different. Check this out - for a review of S Drives:

Good luck! Lots of great choices

I don't feel like the turn in is soft at all on the S.Drives, although I do run them at 38PSI. I agree the RunFlats were crisper but I still prefer the S.Drives overall. I'm happy with them, but they are a bit noisy. Good grip, good wet handling, etc. I haven't REALLY given them hell yet but so far so good.
