NHT Performance Calipers - Horrible product

My rear brake calipers had signs of wear on the pistons and the right rear one was seizing.

I tried to order some replacement rotors, but most of the websites I checked were back ordered or were all out of stock and I wanted to get the job done so I ended up ordering a set of NHT Performance Calipers from partstrain.com for $390.
http://www.nugeon.com/products.aspx?i=cc

It took over two weeks to get the calipers. When I called parts train and asked them about it, they said they are "made to order".

When I received the calipers, I instantly recognized the ATE logo. These aren't "performance" in any manner. They are just powder coated standard ATE replacement calipers.

The rubber boots were freely floating on the shaft and could not be pressed back into place. It appeared that since they powder coat the caliper, some of the powder coating was preventing the boot from going all the way back. I called their tech support and they pulled a unit off the shelf and confirmed it was a defect. 2 weeks later, I get my calipers.

It took some time to coordinate a 2nd vehicle and transporting my car to the shop, so a couple weeks later it finally got to the shop. The powder coating was in the threads of the bolt holes so the tech had to use his tap and die set to clear out the holes. The brakes got fully mounted and the brake line screwed all the way in and bottom out. It was a tapered end on the brake line, so it shouldn't go all the way in... I call tech support and they determined they accidentally sent me calipers for banjo bolt type brake lines instead of the taper bolt that my car has. I return the calipers and a few days later I get my calipers. I had to pay the mechanic for his time.

Out of money, I decided to research and do the job myself. I bought all of the tools I need for the job and when I went to remove the 7mm hex bolt, it turned out to be a 7/32 hex bolt. WTF?! They sent me non metric parts on a european part? So I monkeyed around with it for an hour with a tiny allen wrench and gave up. I remembered my neighbor working on a custom chevy, so I went and asked him and luckily scored a 7/32 hex socket. I got the brakes on and tried to put the parking brake cable back through the hole on the caliper... NOPE. The already tight-fitting connection is now powder coated on the inside and won't let it through. I tried pounding on the collar of the parking brake bracket, but could only get it to go in about 1/3 of the way into the hole, stripping off the powder coating.

Now I'm stuck again... Waiting till morning when I will have to run to Harbor Freight again and pic up a dremel tool with a small wire brush that will fit inside and strip off all of the powder coating.

Girlfriend brought her dremel over and in 10 seconds I had the holes in both calipers cleaned up. Parking brake cable slide right in. It's amazing how productive you can be with the right tools.

The powdercoating job on this replacement set is horrible. There are bubbles in the paint.

The most impressive thing is that your GF has a dremel.

Thanks for the feedback on those calipers.
