8000km on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S PLUS. Great in the Pacific NW Coast wet. But use the Subaru with its TOYO Garit KX in the snow.

Both tires (and cars!) are superb for their intended application.

That's what I have on my MINI now. I hate 'em. Can't wait to get rid of them. It's a very harsh and noisy ride. They were fine for the first 5k or so and then just got louder and louder. How many miles do you have on yours?

Just put 2k miles on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus 205/55 16 on standard bridge spoke factory rims. Coming off the run flats, I am in nirvana. These are Z rated & cornering grip are phenomenal. Only gripe? Im gettetting 1-2 mpg less (even after compensating for the wheel diameter difference).

And they look much "fuller" in the wheel arch: I must say they look much more purposeful. My car is also mildly lowered with TSW springs & no rubbing problems

I have the same tire and there are numerous other posts of others in NAM that are running this tire and are very happy with it too.

Update: I've had the Conti Extreme Contact DWS on for 3 weeks now. I've done a lot of driving on them and even a track day at VIR (in the rain). They replaced Conti RFs. What I've learned so far:

Noise: they are MUCH quieter. Sounds like a different car.

Ride: Smoother. Potholes and bridge joints are not the sharp, jarring jolt as with the RFs.

Handling: At first they felt "sloppy". But in talking with others that have switched from RFs to non-RFs it seems most everyone has this first impression. The sidewalls are not ridged like RFs so they feel "softer". However, after a couple of weeks I got used to them and find they handle every bit as well as the RFs or better. They are very sticky on dry roads and they are unbelievable on wet! I put them through some pretty hard turns at VIR (wet track) and they did everything I asked. Not once did they lose traction. In the category of performance of an AS tire I give them a solid A.

Bottom line: For a less than $100 performance tire they are an excellent buy.

My new-to-me '08 MCS came with a set of Dunlop summer runflats on it....so I had to replace them in pretty short order just before Christmas time. I ended up getting a set of Sumitomo HTR+ from Tirerack in 215/45-17. So far I'm pretty happy with them.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

I wanted something budget friendly and these seemed to be rated pretty well and were on closeout (maybe a new model coming along to replace them?). Anyway, they seem reasonably sticky for all-seasons and passed the test with the recent snow we've had. No all-season is great in snow, but these were pretty decent I thought. On dry pavement, they are pretty predictable and they seem to give pretty good warning before they let loose. Since I came right from runflats, steering response seemed a bit vague, but it just took a couple of days to get used to them and I'm fine with it.

Can't attest to their wear characteristics yet since I've only had them a couple thousand miles, but so far I'm pretty pleased with them. An EXCELLENT value for $74 a piece I think!

Good luck!

I use the Falken Zeix 912's, 195/55-15 on my Cooper. Worked well in 2-3 inches of snow, the one time I was in the snow.
Great in dry and rain, here in FL. Use them when I autox, only couple times a year.
I tried the Kuhmo ASX, but went back to the Falken as they seem much better wet/dry grip.

I have about 1k on Eagle F1 A/S - gotta say that I really like them so far. Grip seems to be pretty good on the cold pavement we have been having here lately - no precip (frozen or not) yet

Remeber to rotate this one often, every 2500 miles to keep them quiet.

Sure, Lets talk about what your looking for...

Smooth ride?
Long milage?
Bad weather handeling?
Any agressive driving tendencies?

what i am looking for is a decent performance tire to replace my rf that will get me around in a small amout of snow. As of now the factory rf will not even get down the road in a dusting of snow. Lots of spirited driving. And at least a 30k to 40k mile tire.

+1 To the Micheline Pilot AS+. I have them on my Maxima right now. Way better than the OEM Eagle F1's.

I noticed the links point to 215/45/17's. What are the advantages/disadvantages of running this size instead of 205/45/17's?

I have about 2k miles on a set of General Altimax UHP. They're sticky, quiet, and have a good looking tread pattern. I've only been in one rain storm, and they appeared to handle that well.

I am looking at new tires for my 2011 Mini S, I have 205x45x17 run-flats, I dont want run-flats, (too hard of a ride) and was wondering if 115x45x17 is the widest tire that will fiit, has anyone tried a 225x45x17?? Michelin has the Pilot Super Sport in a 115 and a 225, just wondered if the 225x45x17 will even fit my car, I do have 1/2 in spacers on the car, I dont know if that would make a difference or not? Thanks..

I have the Continental DW (not the DWS) and it's pretty great. Not a TRUE all-season, but doesnt turn into a hockey puck in the winter like a true summer tire. Amazing in the rain.
