Confusion: 2005 Conv, aftermarket wheels, and TPMS?!?!?!

Hey everyone, I still consider myself a newb to the Minis, I have done many mods and know my other car inside and out, but have not given the Coop much love in ways of mods. I just ordered a new set of 17" wheels for the liitle guy, and started thinking about the whole TPMs issue. I tried searching through old posts but just cant seem to make sense of it all. I saw in one place that the monitoring system changed for 2007, and when I have searched for new TPMs for the new wheels all I can find are parts for 2007+.
I was hoping if I created a new thread on the topic someone that has some knowledge in the area could answer my question alot quicker than I can search through more posts and make sense of it.
What type of TPMs are on my 200 MCC?
Will I be able to put new TPMs on the aftermarket wheels?
Where can I find the correct parts if I can put them on/if it is a part to be installed?

Like I said, I really just dont understand the system on this car and hopefully some of you can help shed some light on the issue for me.
Thank You.

If your valve stems are rubber then you have the ABS based TPMS and can change to any other set of wheels with no complications. If you have metal valve stems then you need the sensors transferred to your new wheels.

Sorry, should have stated it earlier that I am keeping my stock wheels fitted with the winter tires that are on them now, thats why I was looking for a new set of TPMs for the new wheels.

The TPMS system in your 2005 does not require any hardware in the wheels, so there's nothing to buy when you buy new wheels.

Your TPMS works by monitoring how fast the wheels are turning, with the assumption that a tire that's going flat will be spinning faster than the other wheel on the axle.
