Like the title says, will it fit without major fender trimming? I'm on a stock suspension currently but plans include a drop no more than 1".

Anyone? I'm thinking it'll work since they're running that size on 15x8 6ul's but I want to make sure before I spend $400 on tires that rub all over.

Yes, it will fine fine. Even with one inch drop you should be OK.

The key is not to go too wide on the rim and not too far out (less offset).

15x7 +35 to +37mm offset is fine.

225/50-15 is less than stock tire diameter so it is OK but for stock suspension wheel gap is increased a little.

I can run 225/50-15 on 15x8 6UL rims +36mm offset with 1.6" drop front and rear but need a 3mm spacer for the rear.

I just saw that someone went with 8in for the front and 7.5 for the rear. 3mm rear spacers = more understeer, no?

Many factors can produce understeer to a greater extent than using spacers.
3mm spacers are minimal and would not be a factor. They are used for a minimal clearance change just to stop rubbing of metal to metal.

I can run 15x8 in front and rear on a 2003 MCS. Front needs no spacer.
15x8 with +40 or +36mm offsets will work in the front. Rear lower trailing arm for me does rub in the rear so spacer is required. Some owners report that it does not rub for them. I probably needed 2mm more clearance.
