Need some help in getting the right tires

I have the 07 Cooper S (R56) running on H&R Springs on a stock suspension, about 1.4 inch drop. I am looking at some rims that are 17x7 ET40. What is the wides or biggest tire I can fit with any rubbing issues? I do drive it kind of hard.

Tony,

From what I have read and seen you could probably do 215/45 or 215/40 without any rub, perhaps a little in the rear.

I'm thinking of running a 215/45/17 on my web spokes with stock MINI offset.

From what I been reading the 215/45 will not work because the car is lowered about 1.4 inches and they will rub. I am curious if the 215/40/17 would work with any rubbing issues.

215/40R17 is the option for lowered Mini's who want a wider than stock size in 17". That should eliminate the rubbing you would get in the rear with 215/45R17.
