Are there any nifty tools to pry off the hubs without nicking the wheel?

Are you refering to center cap (logo in the middle) removal?

or taking the wheels of the car?

I just picked up my new Mini Cooper S last night and have what I think to be the same question: Given the standard MINI wheels, im my case the 16" ones, how do you remove the center logo/cap? Does it pop out some special way? Are they spun on? I would hate to face my wife after scratching up Her new car's bright white wheels

well, the wheel center caps on the R82, R83, and R84 (8-spoke, 5-spoke, and v-spoke) should all come off with a flat-head screwdriver from the face-side. There is a slot in the cap to do this. I would recommend wrapping the tip in electrical (black) tape to protect from scratches. On the R81 (holeys) and R85 (s-lite) the center cap is much smaller, and is knocked out after wheel removal by tapping on it from the hubside with the butt of a screwdriver.

Hope that helps

My 2002 w/ r83's came with a tool in the tool kit : it's just a piece of bent wire that can be inserted in any of the little holes in the cap ... the parts guy at the dealership even carries that tool on his keyring!
