Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Runflats?
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Runflats?
Alex, got the latest issue of Inside Track in the mail yesterday and there's a blurb about the new Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP runflats. Looks like they're currently available only in sizes for BMW 3 series and the blurb mentions upcoming Corvette applications. Will these be available in OEM or +1 sizes for MINI's? The original PS2 works awesomely on my Cayman, if the runflats work as well I'd be all over them for the MINI (and the Cayman). My biggest beef with the OEM runflats hasn't been the harshness, I can live with that, but with the lack of traction compared to many other readily available non-runflat performance tires. So what's the scoop?
Your best bet is to email or call Alex@tirerack.com
Odds are you won't be seeing this tire in MINI friendly sizes.
Runflats are only common in certain sizes and the MINI sizes are already well represented.
See

Right now
225/40-18 $268 each 220 treadwear
255/35-18 $372 each
Regular non runflat PS2 comes in
235/40-17
225/35-18
Lets hope for more sizes.

Got a reply from Alex at Tirerack today. So far, sizes for the PS2 runflats are very limited. There is one size 225/40/18 that conceivably could work on a MINI but nothing currently in 16 or 17". He, and I, are hoping that more sizes will trickle out over the next few months.
