So all over some of the car forums i visit (some audi sites) I've noticed a lot of people complaining about Mille Miglia wheels and how they bend really easy because they are really soft. I'm awaiting my pepper white MC and am looking for wheels. I really like the look of the HT3's but does anyone know if Mille Miglia wheels can stand up to a pothole every now and then? Are these soft wheels a problem the company had in the past? Someone help me out!

thanks.

Strenth is relative it wheels.

Gravity cast wheels, like the HT3 gain their strenth from overall mass.

Forged wheels, like the RGR, gain their strenth from from construction process.

Any wheel can bend, thats a matter of physics. if both wheels weighed the same the forged wheel would be less likely to bend, hence the reason to pay twice as much for forged!

Why do people say Millie's bend? Most customers I venture are moving to a plus size, where sidewalls are more ridgid, and ride is firmer. These plus sizing fitmnets have less sidewall to flex, and hence make it easier to bend wheels.

If this happend to be a new thing for that customer, they probably were more comforable buying a $200 wheel over a $400 one.

Millie Miglia makes very high quality gravity castings, but no mater how you slice it they are not as strong as a forged wheel.

thanks for the reply alex!

so obviously a forged wheel is much stronger, but my question has more to do with comparing Mille Miglia's tendency to bend over wheels within a similar price range. Take for example some of the wheels you sell at tirerack like the ASA LW5 or the OZ superleggera. I live in pittsburgh so road conditions are bad enough here to warrent a concern about wheels bending. I plan on odering 17" wheels over 18s just for that reason. So with all this mind..would you say one wheel is stronger than the other between say the ASA LW5, OZ superleggera, Mille Miglia HT3, and the Mille Miglia Spider II?

Also, about how much do bent wheels cost to fix if it comes to that?

thanks again,
seth

The OZ is the best in duability of the gang.

The Millie is next, sheer mass towers over!

While the ASA's dont bed easily, They are #3 due to cast, and light weight.

I don't recomend repair wheels that have been bent. There is a malleability that wheels have, once they are bent they are easier to bend in the same area. Think of how when you bend a paperclip, its bends easier progressively. So will repaired wheels.
